glaucoma assessment

Over 200,000 Australians have glaucoma, half of these cases remain undiagnosed. Known as the "thief of sight", glaucoma leads to gradual and painless peripheral vision loss and progresses if left untreated. Once diagnosed, it can most often be treated successfully with eye drops. Glaucoma can be detected by a combination of checks carried out by your optometrist with a pressure check, an optic nerve assessment including a retinal photo, an OCT (optical coherence tomography) scan and a visual field examination.
